Seal, Insulate, and Reduce Energy Costs

HOW TO SEAL DRYWALL

A 1/8 inch gap between the drywall and top plate can add up to the equivalent air loss of a three square foot opening in a home.* Great Stuff Pro™ Gasket fits the bill by forming a seal between framing lumber and drywall to provide an additional layer of protection against unwanted airflow and drywall bowing.

STEP BY STEP DIRECTIONS :

  1. Prep area by removing dust and debris.
  2. Shake can for 60 seconds.
  3. Invert the can and install onto the dispensing gun with a twist.
  4. Adjust the flow control knob on the back of the gun to achieve the desired flow.
  5. Press the trigger to fill the gun with foam and then dispense into an appropriate waste receptacle.
  6. Set bead size to ½”-¾”.
  7. Test the bead size.
  8. Apply a continuous bead along the interior face of the top plates of framing.
  9. Wipe away imperfections with a damp cloth.
  10. Close the flow control knob to keep any foam in the dispensing gun from curing.
  11. Allow to cure for 2-24 hours.
  12. Once cured, install drywall to framing.
  13. Store upright for up to 90 days.

Helpful Tips:

  1. Best results if used when product temperature ranges from 60-90°.
  2. If the can sputter, simply shake it some more with the can upside down.
  3. Only clean with water.
  4. Do not use any other Great Stuff Pro™ products in the Drywall Gasket gun.
  5. Use a 1/2" wide bead for best results.
  6. The bead will shrink and wrinkle in high humidity. However, as long as the bead maintains at least a 1/8” height, it will perform as designed, depending on the framing.
  7. If humidity exceeds 70%, we recommend a target bead of 5/8”-3/4”.  Do not exceed a 3/4” initial bead to prevent sagging.
  8. Great Stuff Pro™ Gasket can be cleaned with just water.
  9. Do not use Great Stuff™ Foam Cleaner on Great Stuff Pro™ Gasket Dispensing Gun. Instead, use the included hose adapter to flush water through the gun into an appropriate waste receptacle.
